Letshego Divests from Key African Markets Following Significant Losses
Letshego Africa Holdings is re-evaluating its presence across several African nations. The company is confirmed to be divesting from Ghana, Tanzania, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Uganda.
Financial Performance Drives Strategic Shift
This strategic withdrawal follows a period of substantial financial challenges in these markets. Internal documents shared with shareholders highlight the financial impact on the company.
Combined, the operations in these five countries reported a net loss after tax of approximately P519.5 million for the year ending December 2025. This occurred despite these same operations generating P1.46 billion in operating income during the same period.
Reassessing Growth Strategies
Letshego’s decision represents a recalibration of its growth ambitions on the continent. The exits are intended to streamline operations and improve overall financial performance by moving away from underperforming assets.
