NexMetals boosts Selkirk case with improved Copper, Nickel recoveries

Selkirk Project Gains Traction with Enhanced Recoveries

NexMetals Mining Corp. has announced significant advancements at its Selkirk project in Botswana. Recent metallurgical test results demonstrate improved copper and nickel recoveries, bolstering the project’s potential as a standalone mining operation.

Moving Beyond a Legacy

Historically, the Selkirk mine’s development was envisioned in conjunction with the now-defunct BCL smelter. Earlier studies anticipated a lower-grade bulk concentrate suitable for that processing facility. However, new test work is charting a different path for the asset.

Delivering Separate Concentrates

Tests conducted on core samples from the 2025 drilling program confirm the Selkirk project can now produce distinct, saleable copper and nickel concentrates. This capability is crucial for establishing the mine as an independent entity, rather than a “stranded asset” reliant on prior infrastructure. The ability to generate separate, higher-value concentrates is a key factor in strengthening Selkirk’s economic viability.
