Botswana’s Gambling Authority Emphasizes Legal and Ethical Responsibility
Botswana’s gambling regulator is clarifying its stance on responsible gambling. The Gambling Authority highlights that it’s not merely a public relations strategy, but a fundamental legal and ethical obligation for all operators.
Regulator Outlines Operator Duties
During the first anniversary celebration of Sunbet Botswana, Moruntshi Kemorwale, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Gambling Authority, underscored this perspective. Kemorwale stated that upholding responsible gambling practices is a non-negotiable part of operators’ licenses and a core duty to their customers.
Beyond Public Relations
The Authority’s message clarifies that compliance extends beyond superficial measures. It stresses that genuine commitment to player protection and harm prevention is expected from companies in the sector. This aligns with the Authority’s broader mandate to ensure fair and safe gambling environments within Botswana.
