Minister Kenewendo Addresses Mupane Mine Dispute
Minister of Minerals and Energy, Bogolo Kenewendo, recently addressed concerns regarding the Mupane Gold Mine liquidation. She stated that her ministry was not aware of the ownership structure of ULSAN Holdings Botswana, a company central to the ongoing dispute.
Parliamentary Inquiry Spurs Discussion
The Minister’s comments came in response to questions from Tati East Member of Parliament Tlhabologo Furniture. The MP sought clarification on several points surrounding the mine’s sale and liquidation process.
Furniture specifically questioned how ULSAN Holdings was allowed to participate in the bidding process after the official deadline. He also inquired about the ministry’s role in facilitating this process and the government’s involvement in extending the liquidation beyond its initial June 13, 2025 deadline.
