New DPP Implements Strict Conflict-of-Interest Policy
Kgosietsile Ngakaagae, the newly appointed Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), is rolling out a comprehensive strategy to manage potential conflicts of interest. This initiative aims to uphold the integrity of legal proceedings, particularly in cases involving individuals he previously represented.
Delegating Former Client Cases
Under the new policy, any cases featuring Ngakaagae’s former clients will not be handled directly by him. These matters will instead be assigned to other agencies or supervised by his office without his personal involvement. This measure seeks to ensure impartiality and avoid any perception of bias.
Seeking External Legal Guidance
Further reinforcing the commitment to neutrality, any legal opinions or guidance required for these specific cases will be referred to the Attorney General. The Attorney General will provide the final approval on such matters, ensuring an independent review process. This step adds an additional layer of scrutiny and external validation to critical legal decisions.
