Botswana’s Digital Ambition Fueled by Huawei ICT Competition
Botswana is actively pursuing digital transformation. A key initiative supporting this goal is the Huawei ICT Competition 2025–2026, an international program designed to equip tertiary students with essential digital skills.
Cultivating Future Tech Talent
The competition builds upon the existing Huawei ICT Academy framework. This long-standing collaboration brings together Huawei and prominent educational institutions in Botswana, including the University of Botswana, Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST), BA ISAGO University, Botho University, and Botswana Accountancy College (BAC).
Through this partnership, students gain valuable access to several resources. These include globally recognized certifications and instructor-led training. The program also provides practical experience in critical areas such as cloud computing, networking, data management, and cybersecurity.
Bridging the Skills Gap
The Huawei ICT Competition aims to strengthen Botswana’s pool of ICT professionals. By focusing on industry-relevant skills, the program helps ensure that graduates are well-prepared for the demands of the digital economy. This aligns with the nation’s broader efforts to accelerate its digital integration.
