Public sector unions have voiced strong criticism against the current government following the conclusion of the 2025/26 salary negotiations. Five unions, which have been cooperating throughout the negotiation process, accused the government of hostility and a failure to honor its commitments regarding workers’ rights.
Accusations of Hostility and Broken Pledges
The unions concluded the negotiations but expressed significant reservations about the government’s approach. They claim the government demonstrated a hostile stance during discussions and did not uphold its stated human rights pledges concerning public sector employees. This sentiment was conveyed as the negotiating period drew to a close.
Acceptance of Negotiation Outcomes
Despite their criticisms, the five collaborating public service unions have accepted the final outcome of the 2025/26 salary discussions. Their acceptance, however, appears to be accompanied by a strong protest against perceived government actions and attitudes during the negotiation process.
